COUN 5650 - Counseling Skills and Techniques


Credit Hours: 3
This course is a foundational course for the introduction and development of counseling skills. Students will focus on the development of skills necessary for building therapeutic relationships, empathic responding, and prioritizing client concerns. Students will be able to identify dynamics of therapeutic processes and will display ethically sound therapeutic attitudes, appropriate professional dispositions, and behaviors in the delivery of counseling services. Learning experiences include observing, practicing, and applying facilitation techniques and methods in the helping process
