ECSP 5427 - Ethics and the Law Credit Hours: 3 This course provides a critical appraisal of the current nature, scope, and dimensions of contemporary and traditional education, special education, and inclusive education at the local, state, and national levels. Special emphasis is placed on the roles of both regular and special educators as collaborative teachers in inclusive settings. In addition, theoretical, legal, and practical issues and recent research and program development and evaluation concerned with the treatment, education, and rehabilitation of exceptional individuals are extensively reviewed. Topics include teacher employment rights, student rights, special education law, religion and the public school, and teacher liability. The utilization of current and emerging technologies in the educational process is emphasized.
