At Least two Mathematics electives will be taken from the following: MATH 3373  (Probability), MATH 4293  (PDE), MATH 4363  (Numerical Methods), MATH 3183 (Vector Calculus), MATH 4243 (Linear Algebra II). Other mathematics electives recommended by the advisor and approved by the department chair are also acceptable. One mathematics elective may be taken from 3000/4000 level STAT courses.

A. Core Requirements


Area A: Essential Skills: 10 Credit Hours

*A “C” or better grade is required in ENGL 1101  and ENGL 1102 .
**Completion of MATH 1111  and MATH 1112  is considered equivalent to completion of MATH 1113  

Area B: Institutional Options: 3 Credit Hours

B. Major Requirements


Area F: Courses Related to the Program of Study: 18 Credit Hours


Area G: Major Requirements: 60 Credit Hours


(Grade C or better for all courses in Area G)

*At least two mathematics electives will be taken from the following courses: MATH 3373   (Probability), MATH 3183   (Vector Calculus), MATH 4243   (Linear Algebra II), MATH 4293   (PDE), and MATH 4363   (Numerical Methods). One mathematics elective may be taken from 3000/4000 level STAT courses. Other mathematics electives recommended by the advisor and approved by the department chair are also acceptable.

 

**Courses taken by students to satisfy Lab Science requirements in area D of the core will not be counted for credit in area G.

***Freshman and sophomore level mathematics courses will not count as electives. At least three credit hours are required from course(s) at the 3000 level or higher

 

Transfer students must earn at least 30 hours with an average grade of “C” (2.00) or better in courses designated as junior and senior courses, including at least 20 hours in the area of major concentration.

 

A Grade of C or better required for all courses in area G. A baccalaureate degree program must require at least 21 semester hours of upper division courses in the major field and at least 39 semester hours of upper division work overall.
