	    Gerontology Minor

				Students who take a gerontology minor gain understanding regarding issues related to the aging process, including the biological, psychological and social aspects of adult development and aging. Students who  earn a Gerontology minor, apart from their bachelor’s degree, may pursue such employment opportunities as: an adult educator focusing on continuing education and career development: elder law advocate; geriatric care manager, or housing specialist focusing on the needs of older adults; long-term care administrator; occupational, physical and speech therapist focusing on the needs of older adults;physician’s assistant, geriatric clinician, public relations specialist, recreation therapist/activities director in a long term care facility, or retirement counselor. 
Students who take Gerontology minor must complete any five of the following six courses(i.e., a total of 15 semester hours) with a minimum grade of “C” in each course: 
	- GERO 3010: AGING & HEALTH (3hrs)   
 
	- GERO 3020: SOCIAL POLICY & AGING (3hrs)
 
	- GERO 3030: MENTAL WELL-BEING & AGING (3hrs)
 
	- GERO 3040: DIVERSITY & AGING (3hrs)
 
	- GERO 4010: DEATH & DYING (3hrs)
 
	- GERO 4020: CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN AGING (3hrs)
