The Department offers one program of study leading to the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Computer Science (CSCI) The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science curriculum involves the study of the logical organization, design, and functions of computers with emphasis on scientific and technical applications. The program provides majors with a firm foundation for graduate study, as well as the necessary skills for viable, entry-level employment upon graduation. Course offerings are designated CSCI.
CSCI majors must receive a grade of “C” or better in all courses designated with the prefix CSCI and supporting courses for the major. Mathematics courses are supporting courses for CSCI majors. CSCI majors must take the ETS computer science subject for completion of degree requirements.

Computer Science Minor (CSCI) Required courses in CSCI:
Area A: Essential Skills: 10 Credit Hours
Area B: Institutional Options: 3 Credit Hours
Area C: Humanities/Fine Art: 6 Semester Hours
Area D: Science, Math and Technology: 11 Credit Hours
(A science course with a lab is required.)
Area E: Social Sciences: 12 Credit Hours
Area F: Courses Related to the Program of Study: 18 Credit Hours
Area G: Major Requirements: 60 Credit Hours
Restricted Electives (12Hours)
- CSCI or CSIS (3000/4000 Level) Credit Hours: 3
- CSCI or CSIS (3000/4000 Level) Credit Hours: 3
The other 6 Hrs. must be selected from MATH/STAT/NSEN or Science Courses with Labs from any other majors

*Math Education courses are unacceptable to fill out a restricted elective
*At least 6 credit hours of restricted electives must be from CSCI/CSIS (3000/4000 level). The other 6 credit hours must be selected from MATH/STAT/NSEN or Science Courses with labs from other majors.
**At least 6 hours of free electives must be 3000/4000 level.
Credit hours taken to satisfy requirements of a minor program will be counted towards free elective hours in Area G.
Transfer students must earn at least 30 hours with an average grade of “C” (2.00) or better in courses designated as junior and senior courses, including at least 20 hours in the area of major concentration.
