CRJU 3101 - Minorities, Crime and Social Policy


Credit Hours: 3
Students will examine racial, ethnic and class identities in terms of their impact on individual experiences of the law, crime, justice, victimization, stigma, and punishment/rehabilitation. Further, students examine sociological and criminological theory and research on these issues. Student will pay special attention to the role of race and theories of crime in the American criminal justice system. Students will explore the treatment of minorities by the variouscomponents of the criminal justice system.

Prerequisite(s): CRJU 2000  or permission of instructor
